For everyone’s safety, and to follow local handling and disposal requirements, some items cannot be collected through QuickJunk2Go.

Please do not add any of the items below to your booking.

Prohibited Items & Restricted Materials Guidelines

Safety First: Ensuring Responsible, Bylaw-Compliant Junk Removal Across Calgary

To protect our independent haulers, adhere to City of Calgary landfill regulations, and safeguard local processing facilities, QuickJunk2Go maintains strict guidelines regarding materials we cannot accept.

Please review this list prior to booking. If prohibited items are included in a pickup, our contractors are required by platform policy to decline those specific items.

Materials QuickJunk2Go Cannot Remove

1. Hazardous Materials, Chemicals & Flammables

We cannot load, transport, or dispose of volatile chemicals, toxic substances, or flammable materials:

  • Gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and heating fuels
  • Propane tanks, butane canisters, and pressurized gas cylinders (full or empty)
  • Liquid paint, paint thinners, lacquers, stains, and industrial solvents
  • Adhesives, glues, resins, and chemical sealants
  • Pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers
  • Pool chemicals, bleach, ammonia, and industrial cleaning compounds
  • Automotive fluids, motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, and lubricants

2. Liquids & Loose Wet Waste

Our dispatch network is equipped for dry, solid waste pickup. We cannot accept:

  • Loose or unsealed liquids of any kind
  • Used motor oil, cooking oil, or fuel sludges
  • Raw sewage, septic waste, or standing wastewater
  • Leaking drums, unsealed jugs, or compromised chemical containers(Note: Empty, completely dry paint cans or rinsed plastic containers with lids off are accepted).

3. Explosive, Pressurized & Dangerous Goods

For the safety of our drivers and road transportation in Alberta, we do not accept:

  • Explosives, fireworks, pyrotechnics, flares, or smoke bombs
  • Live or spent ammunition, gunpowder, firearms, or military ordnance
  • Compressed gas tanks, SCUBA tanks, or pressurized aerosol canisters

4. Medical, Biohazardous & Sanitary Hazards

We are not licensed to handle biohazardous or medical waste. We cannot collect:

  • Needles, syringes, scalpels, and medical sharps
  • Prescription medications, pharmaceuticals, or controlled substances
  • Bodily fluids, blood-contaminated items, or biological waste
  • Animal remains, carcasses, or raw manure/pet waste
  • Contaminated medical equipment or lab materials

5. Asbestos & Regulated Environmental Waste

We do not haul items requiring specialized environmental containment or hazardous abatement certification:

  • Asbestos-containing insulation, floor tiles, pipe wrapping, or siding
  • Loose or blown-in vermiculite insulation
  • Mold-damaged or flood-contaminated drywall and insulation
  • Lead-based materials or heavily contaminated soil and gravel

6. Commercial Construction & Heavy Demolition Debris

QuickJunk2Go is a flat-rate bulk item dispatch service, not a heavy roll-off bin or demolition service. We cannot accept bulk loads of:

  • Concrete blocks, poured concrete, or asphalt chunks
  • Loose bricks, masonry, retaining wall stones, dirt, sod, or gravel
  • Loose roofing shingles or heavy structural framing timber
  • Uncontained drywall stacks or mixed renovation rubble

(Small, bagged DIY debris or individual vanity/fixture pieces may be eligible. Please contact us with photos prior to booking).

7. Unsafe, Heavily Infested, or Unstable Items

Our contractors reserve the right to decline items on-site if they pose an immediate health or physical hazard:

  • Items infested with bedbugs, rodents, or active pest colonies
  • Waterlogged mattresses, couches, or materials exceeding safe lifting thresholds
  • Structurally unstable items likelihood to break apart and cause injury during transport

How to Dispose of Hazardous Waste in Calgary

Need to dispose of household chemicals, paint, or propane tanks? The City of Calgary offers free drop-off locations for residential hazardous waste:

  • City of Calgary Household Hazardous Waste Drop-offs: Available at designated local fire stations and municipal landfill Throw ‘n’ Go stations across Calgary (SE, SW, NW, NE).
  • Paint & Electronics: Paint cans and residential electronics can be recycled free of charge at participating Calgary Eco-Stations.

If you have an unusual item or aren’t sure whether a specific material qualifies for pickup:

  1. Take a quick photo of the item(s) and location.
  2. Visit our Contact Support Page and attach your photos with a brief description.
  3. Our team will review your request and confirm whether we can dispatch a hauler for your job.

Note on Final Driver Discretion:

QuickJunk2Go contractors reserve the right to refuse any item at the pickup location if its condition, contents, weight, toxicity, or safety risk differs materially from the photos and descriptions submitted during online booking.
